HERITAGE WEEK 2015 on the HILL OF SLANE

There will be an action-packed week on the Hill of Slane during Heritage Week free tours at 2pm each day from 22nd to 30th August inclusive. This year, we will be teaming up with the Lady Well Fete committee and on the afternoon of Sunday 23rd August, as part of the Lady Well Fete in the grounds of Slane Castle, there will be a display and demonstration of geophysical survey techniques by the Hill of Slane Archaeological Project and Kevin Barton of Landscape and Geophysical Services. For more information about Heritage Week events in Meath and around the country, please visit heritageweek.ie.

Tours will take about an hour, maybe more depending on the level of interest! Please dress for the weather, this is an open site. Also, please wear appropriate footwear.

The dates and times of the tours on the Hill of Slane are as follows:

  • Saturday 22nd – meet in Hill of Slane car park at 2pm.
  • Sunday 23rd August – meet in Hill of Slane car park at 2pm.
  • Sunday 23rd August – Ladywell Fete Slane Castle – Remote Sensing/geophysics demonstration 1pm-6pm. Please note there is a €5 admission charge to the Fete for adults.
  • Monday 24th August – meet in Hill of Slane car park at 2pm.
  • Tuesday 25th August – meet in Hill of Slane car park at 2pm.
  • Wednesday 26th August – meet in Hill of Slane car park at 2pm.
  • Thursday 27th August – meet in Hill of Slane car park at 2pm.
  • Friday 28th August  – meet in Hill of Slane car park at 2pm.
  • Saturday 29th August – meet in Hill of Slane car park at 2pm.
  • Sunday 30th August – meet in Hill of Slane car park at 2pm.
